Am trying to get my head around MOCA setups, but I keep on coming back to a question (and I apologize in advance for the simple-minded nature of this): what is the purpose of a network router in a MOCA setup?
Does the router serve to direct the signal over the MOCA network, between, for example, a TiVo Roamio and a Mini in the network? Does that apply only to Internet/cable content coming from outside? Or does it also apply to content being sent directly from a Roamio base station to a Mini?
Most specifically, could a MOCA network be maintained without a router connection, where the only desired effect is to transmit content already on a Roamio base station, or being received by the Roamio base station via an OTA antenna attached to the Roamio, to a Mini, where both the Roamio base station and the Mini are connected to the MOCA network? I could swear that I saw some discussion here along those lines, but perhaps I misunderstood (and, hence, the reason for my asking here).
Thanks in advance--
