I'm a Tivo newbie (4 months). My second-hand Tivo Series3 started hanging and rebooting during video playback more frequently (now once a day). I can FF skip over most stutter issues, but every so often it'll hang and reboot.
Since I suspect a HD issue, I started a Kickstart 54 S.M.A.R.T test yesterday.
It is still running the off-line scan for 21 hours - is this normal? Or does this long time itself indicate a problem or bad disk?
Test time (estimated) = 167:27
Test time (elapsed) = 1312:06
The fact KS54 doesn't even correct any bad sectors - am I just wasting my time?
I ran KS 57 the prior weekend - of course w/o any report of bad sectors found or any report at all - I have no idea what KS 57 might have found or fixed. It did not seem to change or correct the playback stutter and reboot issues.
