Whatever happened to the next generation cable cards that was being talked about a few years back? If memory serves, they were supposed to support that feature. Does TiVo support them or did the cable companies kill it off?

After a mixed start to the season, I thought tonight's episode (S6E3) was excellent. While the first two episodes still displayed that rapier wit Veep is known for, I felt the scattering of the Veep ensemble made for an unfocused start.

Has anyone found a reliable means to transfer Tivo files from Tivo to a pc without dropping video frames? I can't seem to find one. I never had any problems with non.TS files. Tivo Desktop and kmttg produce files that are inferior to what's on the Tivo. Thanks

Is it possible to use a cable box with a Tivo HD Series 3 or are cable cards the only option? My cable company's office is currently out of cable cards so I was going to use the cable box I already have in the meantime. I was about to do that but I noticed there is no place to hook up the IR channel changer to change the channels on the cable box. I'm assuming that's not a option but I thought I would ask in case I'm missing something.

I own an XL 4 Elite.

Just had to replace my hard drive after 5 years. Went the Weaknees route.

Before the drive swap, i transferred all my shows to my Tivo Desktop.

Now when i try to transfer the shows back, the transfer times out and i get an error message that says the download rate is too slow.

Have never encountered this before and i transfer the grandkids programs all the time.

Am i screwed?

Transfer expansion drive programs to new Bolt

I recently accepted the offer to transfer my LT service to a new Bolt for $99. I thought my recorded programs could be transferred to the new machine, but I am being told that the recordings on the expansion drive will not transfer, and after the service transfers to the new device, multi-room viewing will not be available. Any ideas? I have a lot of material that I would rather not lose.

I recently picked up a model 7465, and am looking at getting extra remotes since the one that came with the unit has a fair bit of button wear.

Hi. I'm central CT with a Roamio Pro using Comcast. In a couple of days Comcast will be moving most of their channels to new numbers.

I'm pessimistic that my Roamio will pick up the changes immediately. If it doesn't, should i do a repeat of guided setup? And could doing the guided setup require a re-pairing (or whatever it's called) of the cablecard?

I live in the Rio Grande valley of Texas and it's extremely hot in the summer, actually most of the time Is there a better fan that anyone could recommend for cooling my premier than the stock one. Maybe one with higher speed. My house is never less than 85 in the summer as I really can't afford to air condition any cooler than that. I am old and don't hear that well so the noise of a different faster fan is not really a big concern. Thanks in advance.

As of 4/27/17, Comcast has shuffled stations around on its Canton, MI lineup. It no longer matches the TiVo lineup, preventing me from easily programming recordings and passes. Is there a way to manually force an update, or does it have to come from Comcast? Both Premiers and my Roamio (3 TiVos in total) have connected today with the service, so it's not a connection problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Apparently some time late last night or during the day today my TivoHD (160gb version that got a 1tb drive a few years ago) lost its mind. I sat down to watch a recorded show and discovered my 30 second skip no longer worked nor could I re-enter it. Sometimes (happened about three times so far) the tv will show a message from the tivo "HDMI connection not permitted. TV not supporting HDCP and you will need to switch to using a different cable". Man this Plex app is awful for me. Runs fine on the TV. Problem is at least on the Sony I can't set the picture settings unless it's on an input. So im either watching it on an overly bright picture or this piece of junk. The TiVo just stutters all the time. Is this a hard drive issue or what? Even a stream of 1mbps or less and it still either buffers every couple of minutes or gets really bad about 10 mins in. Totally unwatchable. Sound stops and it keeps jerking. Its bad.

Antenna signal strength question

The antenna signal strength on my Roamio basic ranges from 58 to 72 on the channels I care about. I have read that 72 is the max reading the Tivo gives (although I have occasionally seen a higher reading on one channel).

A couple questions: if a channel reads 72, does that mean the signal is a strong as it can be? Also, it is a linear scale? IOW, does a 60 reading mean the signal strength is 83% of a 72 reading?

While I'm sure my Tivo isn't the culprit, is anybody else seeing steaming quality degrading with Netflix via your Tivo? In just the last week, the stream will drop all the way down to 240 multiple times during a show, which looks like a really bad YouTube upload. One guess is that Netflix is signing up so many people that their servers aren't keeping up with capacity. All HD viewings on other apps (Amazon Prime, Youtube) via my Tivo aren't affected, so I know it's not my network.

I've got a TivoHD and want to upgrade, but I've been reading a lot of horror stories about the Bolt. Many where the bolt just dies. Very loud fan noise. Signal strength problems. It's made me afraid to buy one.

I see that WeaKnees is selling brand new Roamio Pro 3TB. I'm thinking that's the better way to go. All the reviews on the Roamio Pro have been stellar. What do you all think?

Hi. I see some similar posts on this topic but no real concrete advice. I have powercycled the bolt repeatedly. I do have a mini moca connected via coax that has the same issue but does not seem to be causing it as the issue occurs whether or not the moca adapter is connected. I have gone through all initial setup multiple times with days in between to allow for download of data.

2 Premier boxes work fine.

I have a bolt that is out of service and we are thinking of cutting cable and trying to do OTA. Will the Minis still get the feed from the bolt via MOCA if there is no subscription? The minis are currently telling me there is a connection issue with the internet. I am getting the no subscription warning on the bolt, however the live cable still works. Or will I need a subscription to get the MOCA to work again?

Have a roamio plus been having issues lately where i set up the moca and runs fine and after a few weeks it will have issues connecting. I've noticed that it started to happen when comcast updated us to new xfinity 1 box. I was reading that this may be due to the xfinity using the cable line as a way to communicate with comcast and that might be messing with the moca settings? any ideas?

Has anybody seen poor/inconsistent picture quality on Netflix Tivo app in the past several weeks? My Roamio ethernet is hard wired to a 10Gbps switch, and ISP speed is 65Mbps. Other devices on the same switch see full port speed and full internet speed. However, Netflix quality is extremely variable. Starts out ok, then drops very low every few minutes, then back to good quality. Used to be good for hours at a time in months prior.

As the above says I'm thinking about switching to Comcast. I assume I can use my Bolt as DVR and STB, along with the Mini's. With the Cable Card will I be able to watch all the Channels on all the Mini's and IS it possible to record from OTA and Comcast at the same time? Netflix Streaming Quality Degrading

While I'm fairly sure my Tivo isn't the culprit, is anybody else seeing steaming quality degrading with Netflix via your Tivo? In just the last week, the stream will drop all the way down to 240 multiple times during a show, which looks like a really bad YouTube upload. One guess is that Netflix is signing up so many people that their servers aren't keeping up with capacity. All HD viewings on other apps (Amazon Prime, Youtube) via my Tivo aren't affected, so I know it's not my network.

Right now I use my Bolt for almost all media needs. Netflix, Amazon Video, Plex, Pandora, etc.
However, I sometimes want to cast/mirror my laptop display to TV to show a presentation or other things. I use Chromecast to do this, casting from the Chrome browser window. That requires changing TV inputs.

I got a new Bolt in December, and have had 4 cablecards since first install. Something is happening that is causing them to come unpaired. They work for about a month, and then I get the cablecard not authorized screen, and V58 errors on various channels.

At this point, Charter is pointing the finger at TiVo. TiVo says this must be a cablecard failure.

I recently moved into the modern era by replacing my HD with a Bolt. I'm not wild about the Discovery Bar, and have searched around and found that it can't be turned off. I can live with it being there, but it's position is really inconvenient when scrolling around the menus. Whenever I want to go to the top of the menu I'm in, I invariably scroll too much and end up in the discovery bar and then click on whatever is up there.

In late January, I came home from a three week trip. When I turned on TV/Tivo, my channel guide showed "to be announced" for all my listed channels. The saved channels were all OK, and all recorded programs were fine. About a week ago, I noticed the web interface was no longer accessible on my Tivo Premiere. I kept getting an access denied error after logging into it. I started to troubleshoot and found that my Tivo keeps trying to install an update every night but apparently it fails.

If I manually connect to Tivo Service, the last status will always show Pending Restart. I restart the Tivo and it shows that an update is being installed and then it boots normally. There is no error message at all....

So, I'm torn with returning the Bolt or keeping it and selling the Roamio with lifetime on Ebay. I have a 4K smart TV so I use that for Netflix. Bolt Plus issue: No lights and no video outpout

Hello, so my Bolt+ is powering on when I plug it in (I hear the fan and the hard drive spool up) but there are no lights on the front of the device and no video output. I've tried cold booting it (removing the cable card, Ethernet, coax and AC power for 30 minutes) with no luck. Does this sound like a power supply issue? Does anybody have any ideas on how to resolve the issue?

I have a bunch of channels with TWC/Spectrum and HBO/Showtime/Epix/ and a couple more movie channels.
So I'll be in Vienna for a month and was wondering if I will be able to stream my regular network shows and some movies I have on my Roamio now. I thought I've read somewhere that some shows, or "networks" were protected and couldn't be stream out of home (or out of country)? Seems to be a lot of info on this out there but mostly outdated and conflicting.

Hoping to find someone with a similar problem (or ideally, a solution).
I have a Tivo Bolt and a Samsung JS8500 4K TV.

If I use an Xbox, Wii U, or Blu ray player with the TV... everything is fine.
The Tivo Bolt is even fine, as long as it's not live TV.
Recorded shows, netflix, amazon - even watching from the buffer - all ok.

But the second I start watching live TV - every few minutes, a 1 second black screen appears. Totally random. Sometimes a few in 20 minutes....

I am so grateful to these forums...... I have the original Series 3 with Lifetime service. It stopped working last week. Wondering why Graveyard Cars recorded 4 of the same episode last night (4/26/17), I noticed that all 4 showings had a First Aired date of 5/2/17. Next week's episode (on 5/2/17) has four showings with First Aired dates of 5/9/17 and all 4 are scheduled to record.

Both episodes seem to have the correct episode numbers, ids and descriptions, just bad dates.

My friend was a Tivo Corp employee and was given a Tivo Roamio with lifetime service. After a few years, she has now passed it on to me but I'm unable to put it onto my account. Called Tivo customer service and was told because it was a 'gift' that it would be unable to be transferred to account. I have an iPhone 6plus running 10.3.2 iOs and the TiVo app v3.7.3.

Up until recently, I could download shows from HBO and FX network with the requirement I checked the box agreeing that the recording on my TiVo would be deleted following the download. Now the download seems to complete to my phone, but the "watch now" button is greyed out, and the program remains on my TiVo Roamio (and can be watched).

Has anyone else run into this?

Hello - I received the offer from TiVo to convert my lifetime service (on my Series 2) for $99 if I purchase a Bolt. Would do it in a second, but I have coax running to two different TVs in the house from my Series 2. Hi, new here- We have a Roamio with cable service from Spectrum (was Brighthouse) in the Orlando area. The tuning adapter box (Cisco) seems to lock up about every 2 weeks with the tivo throwing up a message about no connection and we have to pull the power cord on the cisco box to get it working again.

I have a Tivo Roamio OTA with Lifetime service and my commercial skip seems to not be working. It just started within the last week. The shows have the green Skip symbol on them but when I watch the show it does not display the "Press... to skip" line when the commercials start and the "ch up" does not cause it to skip.
This has never happened before.
Any idea what's going on?

Is everyone else getting the "A network error occurred. Please try again." trying to use the app to connect to their Tivos?

My iPad was connected fine when I was at home.. but I'm trying to keep downloading shows to watch at the gym (because !@$ downloading is so !@$# unreliable and I have to download a few MEGS at a time, sometimes)..

but now both my iPad & iPhone are getting the network error dialog.. and have been for an hour or so.

It'll probably eventually "come back", but what a pain..

Ok I guess I never saw this as I've been with TiVo forever and always paid, but my Bolt service expired (came with 1 year of service) and I was shocked that the device locked all of the apps. That is outrageous. So I get the monthly fee and what it does, but why would box suddenly stop running apps that have nothing to do with the monthly service that is provided. Hoping someone can help explain why I am now seeing "Searching for Signal on Cable In" on all but one channel.

I have 2 premieres arriving later this week- one has a Tivo case # for $99 lifetime - it's a 2011 320gb box and the second has a $6.95/mo plan - its a 500gb box built in April 2013.
My question is why one box has a lifetime offer and the other has a $6.95/mo offer? Might it be possible to get the $99 lifetime on the second box when I call to activate?

CCI bit set on OTA broadcast stations

From what I understand, for channels that are offered as OTA, the CCI bit is not supposed to be set to anything other than copy freely. I remember seeing that a few years back and now can't seem to find it. Does anyone know where I can find resources on this or back it up? I need evidence before proceeding to get them removed. I have a TiVo Roamio and a normal cable subscription on Spectrum (in a formerly TWC area).

Recommended eSATA Enclosures?

Are there recommended eSATA enclosures for an 8TB drive? With eSATA being slower than current USB options, the newer devices don't seem to support it. I have seen references to older devices in a few threads but those devices do not report compatibility with an 8TB drive. There are also conflicting reports on whether that matters, as the eSATA connection should in theory just pass through to the SATA port on the drive, but these enclosures have USB connectors as well and so must have...

Our outgoing Series 3 HDs have a "Watch Live TV" selection in the main TiVo Central screen.
Select it and you are at live TV - easy peasy.

We're replacing the Series 3s with Bolts. I want to show the family the easiest way to simply get to live TV via the box itself (and NOT through the stock remote's Live TV button because we're using a different remote). It used to be "Left Arrow > Left Arrow > Watch Live TV"

So, how is this done with the Bolt? I do not see a Watch Live TV...

My Skip Speed seems slower

Many of the programs I record don't have the full skip ability so I use the fast forward button. Usually I use the 2nd speed of the 3 speeds. For the past few weeks I've noticed that the rate at which the video skips is now slower than it used to be. I'm just wondering if others have noticed this or is it possibly only happening on my Roamio. I used to jump 4-5 different frames in a second and now it seems it jumps only 2 frames (not literal frames, but picture jumps).
