Justified "Fugitive Number One" S06E11 03/31/2015

Crazy how this episode still feels like a setting up episode, even though it was a relative bloodbath: we lost three main characters in one episode. Usually this kind of attrition seems saved for the season finale!



I knew Mikey (er, Michael) wouldn't let Wynn just get shot like that. Still a gruesome scene. I don't know why Katherine didn't go for a head shot: clearly the body shots were not getting the job done. That was a lot of damage Mikey took before going down.



Loved the face-off that wasn't... yet... between Raylan and the kid. That was harsh of Raylan to drop Katherine's death, and use it as nothing more than a warning. He didn't even say "sorry for your loss!" His mama would be ashamed.



I'm not sure I like Raylan dropping badge and heading out off the books. I did love Art's last comments to Raylan though. What the heck, I love just about everything Art says.

Minis have not worked since the OnePass update

I'm trying to find out if anyone else is having problems with their Mini's after the OnePass upgrade. 1st, the Roamio has worked fine with no problems, but the Mini's stopped being able to play any show with more than 1 episode. It could play live TV and shows with only 1 episode, but not 2+. Very strange! I was then told that it was a known software problem and it would take some time to fix. I kept calling about every 3 days for about 2 weeks and then was told there was no software problem. After spending 2 hours with a tech, they finally decided that something must be wrong with the Roamio so they sent me a new one (after wanting to charge me which was nuts). So I have not installed the new Roamio and the Mini's now can't connect properly with the new unit. They can see the new unit, they just can't connect. After spending another 2 hours with Mark tonight, I finally asked that 2 Mini's be sent to me since the problem is still not solved. He said he could not authorize sending them and his manager had already gone home. What descent manager leaves their people on the phone after hours when the customer's problem is still not resolved? Anyway, now I get to call someone tomorrow and deal with getting 2 Mini's sent to me. Bottom line, I wish I could throw these things in the trash, but of course I have too much money invested at this point.

Blackberry 10 support

Has anyone had success streaming on a BB 10 device. I have been able to successfully install the app and browse my recorded shows and schedule but can not stream any recorded shows over wifi or cell network, it just keep going into a buffer and when it does load a frame after a few minutes it is just one frame. Android runtime is 4.3 so i would assume it is compatible. Really a shame was hoping to use this on travel.

Really sorry if this topic has been covered already but I can't seem to find the information anywhere. Is there an App or application on some type where I can view shows that are recorded on my Tivo on my PC? Preferring something on Windows 7 but Windows 8 is also ok.. I don't need it to download the show but just stream it like it does on the Tivo App on my Android Phone or iPad?? The only thing I can find is that Tivo Desktop Plus but I am not sure that if that is exactly what I am looking for.. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

My Tivo HD started running this message yesterday:

However, I connected repeatedly to download whatever additional info was needed (and there has been no delay in doing this). And the Program Guide goes until 7pm of April 12.



What's going on here and what do I need to do to get rid of this odd message?



FWIW, I installed a Tuning Adapter 2 weeks ago. Is this related to the problem?

That said, this could be interesting if the Time Warner Cable/Comcast tie-up doesn't pass regulatory approval, because Charter has already said they want to take a run at Time Warner Cable if that happens.

Desktop plus software and download

I just purchased the desktop plus software which ships in a few days. But the email confirmation gives a download link to upgrade.



Do i need to wait on the software or is the download link a fully functioning version?



Email included the purchased license key.

Strange Wishlist quirk (HD setting)

Noticed a strange quirk in the Wishlist settings. Maybe been commented on before, not sure...



There is no setting in the actual Wishlist Options screen for HD or not. It's only when you make it Auto-Record that the ability to set HD or not is available. But that setting stays with the WL if you turn ARWL off.



So if you have an ARWL with HD-Only set, if you turn AR off, it will still only show you HD showings. And vice versa. Set it for Not HD Only, and then turn AR off, and it will show you all showings, HD or not.



This should be a setting under Wishlist Options, not Recording Options.

Tivo Series 2 dual tuner won't power on

I have a series 2 Tivo with Lifetime on it that I no longer use. I gifted it to a friend but we couldn't get it hooked up. She has Comcast Infinity, and we do have the M card installed.



After many phone calls she was told that if she couldn't get the green 'on' light to come up, the Tivo was basically dead.



We hate to give up that easily. The unit worked perfectly the last time I used it, but that was about two years ago.



Any suggestions to get this up and running? Could it be a faulty power cord?

I guess I have a little bit of respect for Howard Hamlin now. He's caught in a tough situation between himself and a partner, and he took the hit without flinching.



I'm 100% disappointed in Chuck. Families can be tough, and Jimmy may have been a total effup in the past, but jesus, he's supported Chuck without question during his "sickness" and Chuck still can't be honest with him?



In fact I heard a bit of sibling rivalry in there. The first born, the achiever being pissed off that the younger siblings get away with murder and have it much easier than them, but the thing is, even if that is happening, that's not the younger sibling's fault and blaming them for it definitely destroys relationships.

Issues with TiVo app and iPad Air 2

I have a iPad Air 2 that has been a constant issue with streaming / downloading shows in the TiVo app since I bought it. My wife’s iPad Air has no issues.



My setup:



Roamio

Xfinity internet 125 down 7 up.

Asus RT-N66U router (firewall off, QOS off.)



Occasionally when attempting to stream I get this message:



"Problem Streaming" You are experiencing low bandwidth.



Transferring shows is painful. It starts out strong (2-3 MBS a second) but then drops to .25 MB a second. Shows can take 3-4 hours to download often times having to restart the app several times.



I have already exchanged the iPad with Apple thinking it was an issue with the hardware.



Any ideas?

Dr Who OnePass

Has anyone created a OnePass for dr who using Netflix? Starting on season 2 it misses the first eposide. If i look at the Netflix app it shows correctly. Season 2 skips the first one. And season 5 skips the last one



I just started watching dr who and I was confused to what happend. I missed the first episode of the 2ns season

Can't get one pass for The Comedians

Well I actually did set up the one pass, but it won't schedule in the to do list. I set it up by going to the guide. I also note that a search via iPad app won't find the show. I suspect this issue will clear up in a few days, but I wondered why this glitch occurs.



(The Comedians is a new series premiering on FX starting April 9.)

HBO's Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison Of Belief

Parts of this expose of Scientology's practices and abuses are mind boggling. High executives were exiled to "The Hole", basically a prison for months and years. Mothers were separated from the babies because the babies were annoyances. Physical abuse. Mental abuse. Dirty tricks on people who tried to raise the alarm about the inner goings on of Scientology.



There was one scene that described a literal game of musical chairs. Exiled members in The Hole were forced to play musical chairs where the person who "lost" would be kicked out of Scientology and everybody beat the crap out of each other so he or she wouldn't lose.



I can understand people using various methods of self help to improve themselves and to remain on the straight and narrow but at some point you have to realize your belief system is wrong and damaging. It's strange to me that whole families of parents, children and grand parents turn their backs on members who simply question Scientology. Every religion should have a come when you want and leave when you want with no repercussions philosophy.



Scientology seems to be a California thing. I don't know if it has any presence around here. Certainly not a big presence. I first started hearing about it about 20 years ago because one of my favorite jazz pianists, Chick Corea was a proponent of Scientology and there were occasional dust ups because of its cult-like status when he'd perform over seas.



One thing that may just be a coincidence but then again... The Church Of Scientology was virulently against this documentary and the day after it was broadcast on HBO, hbo.com isn't available. The website is up but it just resolves to a black page.

Ultimate Spiderman (Anyone watching?)

I started this one on Netflix and I can't help myself. I watch this thing and I'm always left on the verge of busting out laughing. Between spidey cracking wise and breaking the fourth wall I find this show immensely entertaining. I'm on season 3 now and it's still good.

SNL - 3/28/2015 - Dwayne Johnson/George Ezra

I really like Dwayne as a host, I thought The Rock Obama could have been better, but as cold opens go I thought it was funnier than most, especially since it was fairly quick.



I thought the highlight of the night was the wrestling skit, I was LMFAO through the whole thing.



And as usual the mix on the musical guest just seemed to be awful, well, that and the fact that George seemed to have an issue getting his W in "Who" out, but he did it the same way the whole song, it just sounded real odd to me.

Setting controls on a mini for airbnb room

I am setting up an airbnb rental in my basement, and I would like to use a mini to provide cable access for a TV there. However, I would like to set this mini up in a manner so that ONLY streaming of the cable TV stations is allowed. Specifically, I do not want this mini to be able to access or change and recordings, settings, etc., on my Roamio plus. My concern is the security of my accounts while still providing access to cable TV stations. (I'd actually be OK with this mini setting up recordings, etc., but it would have to be on a separate account.)



Is this possible? Or would it make more sense to set up the TV in this room in a different manner? The room does have access to WiFi (at streaming speeds). Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

annoying android delete button

The new android app is nicer in many ways, but I've just noticed one annoying feature: I click on a show in "my shows" I read the description and see that I don't want the recording anymore, so I click the little trash can icon at the bottom.



That doesn't delete the show, it merely pops up a one item menu that says "delete", so I have to click on the menu item.

You would think with this show having a Showcase in TiVo it would be a breeze to record...but of course it's on a Viacom network, which means their listings (aka the impossible OnePass for The Daily Show which will never be resolved) are created by people who have no business making up TV listings.



When I set up the OnePass, it had the first two episodes airing on March 31 as new half-hours consecutively...which makes all the sense in the world. Now though, Viacom decided to re-send the listings out to make it an hour premiere in an hour timeslot with 101 and 102 in it. This of course makes the TiVo think the Thursday rerun is also new, but it's just repeats of 101 or 102.



Not hard to delete them, but Viacom really needs to learn how to use the (R) flag like everybody else.

Empty "My Shows" Folder cannot be deleted

I set up a One Pass for the Late, Late Show. Probably accidentally included streamable episodes. After deleting the One Pass the folder remains at the top of "My Shows" taking up space. How do I delete the folder? There is no One Pass to delete. There is no Wishlist to delete. The folder just sits there and lists streamable episodes of the Late Late Show.

Losing wireless connecting during amazon playback

I've had a problem with my roamio losing it's wireless connection a couple times. Each time it happened while accessing netflix. Netflix will come up, usually slowly. I may or may not get into a show from the netflix menu. I try restarting my wireless router but that doesn't fix it. The only fix it a restart of the tivo.



Any idea what the problem is? I'm pretty sure my wireless setup is fine, as my other devices are still able to access the wireless network when the roamio can't.

Download Manager not working

I noticed I haven't gotten any of my web downloads for the past week. When I go into Download Manger and chose a show, it does a quick transition like it's going to another screen, then immediately goes back to my list of shows. I can't dig deeper into each show.



Anyone else have this problem?



Tried a reset to no avail. Also a member of beta testing but I'm not sure what the latest version is.

Artifacts / "Hot" Signal

Hello fellow Tivo users. I have been a loyal customer since Series 2, and am experiencing an issue with my new Tivo Roamio (basic). When watching certain shows, I see what looks like MPEG artifacts or macroblocking, usually on dark colors.



For example, in the attached shot you can see Harvey's black jacket on the show Suits. On a friend's Tivo Premiere, the suit is smooth. On mine, it is blocky.



I e-mailed Tivo and they suggested attenuating the signal, so I now have a 9db attenator and a 6db attenuator on the line. The problem did not improve at all.



Does anyone else have any thoughts on what could be causing this issue?



I know there were some older posts where FiOS users (I am on Optimum) with hot signals saw "pixelation", but I am not sure if these are the types of issues they were seeing, since I would consider this more as blockiness than pixelation.

Stream and Airport Time Capsule Problem

I have the TiVo Roamio that does not stream so I bought a Stream. I had the Roamio connected to an Ethernet switch which is subtended from my Airport TC (because the TC only has 3 usable Ethernet ports). I could not set up streaming between the two boxes and figured they might have to be directly connected to the router as shown in the installation diagram. I had to move my computer and IP phone to the switch and then plugged the Roamio and Stream to the TC. They still did not work. Called customer support (4 separate calls) and tried too many things to go into here from the various customer support suggestions, including resetting my Media Access Key. Still didn't work. I was also told that I need to connect the boxes to the router and not the switch (which I had guessed from the instructions but it makes no sense to me, the switch should let everything pass through as a bridge).



The tier 3 support guy said it must be some bad setting in my Airport blocking traffic between the Roamio and Stream and it was an Apple problem. I was skeptical but bought a cheap router from Target and the two boxes recognized each other and worked. Well my TC cost me some $300 and I wasn't about to trash it, so I reset it back to factory settings with the assumption that the support guy was right and somehow I had put some LAN port isolation or blocking. After factory reset, still no luck.



In frustration, I took the Roamio and Stream off of the TC and plugged them into the switch (just like I had done before) and all of a sudden, they work!



I was able to download a TV show to my iPad and all was good. That was yesterday. Today I was streaming a show while at the health club and the stream stopped and the TiVo could no longer get streaming working and I got the same error messages as before.



I got home and unplugged the stream and rebooted and it still didn't work. Then I unplugged the Roamio and Stream, plugged Roamio back in and come fully up and then plugged in the Stream and it was working again.....for now.



I assume that sometime it will stop working and I will need to unplug and plug. Anyone understand what might be going on here?

12 Monkeys - 3/27/15 "Shonin"

Talk about information overload. There was a lot of backstory info in this episode. It pretty much explained everything, except why the 12 Monkeys want to release the virus and who that woman and her father are and how the woman knew about Ramses. I'm assuming that will be explained by the end of the season.



I liked it, though it kept bugging me how no one aged in 28 years. Everyone looks the same in every time (except Goines).

I am curious if anyone can tell me how much data, on average, the TiVo Roamio uses daily to update services?

Sound no picture

I searched the forum and found plently of folks with HDMI issues but found nothing like mine.



I have a 14 month old Romio plus with a mini and a Cox tuning adapter. Every now and then, I lose the picture when changing channels or accessing a saved program. TV is on, sound fine but no picture. Only thing that works is to re-boot the Romio. Re-booting the tuning adapter does not help. Re-booting the TV does not help.



Any ideas?

Why must we always be surprised when a release comes out?

really i think it is about time that Tivo has a place to go for the customers (who pay dearly for their boxes and service) to see what is in store for them in the next release. their attitude on this has never been good.

Tivo HD 2TB with WinMFS?

I've seen conflicting posts so I'll ask here.. does upgrading to a 2TB for a Tivo HD work with WinMFS or does it require "special" tools?



I know in the past it was not particularly easy to upgrade past 1TB, which is why a lot of people bought drives of eBay, but has this changed? Is upgrading a TiVo HD with 2TB the same as 1TB using WinMFS?

Amazon Instant Video Parental Control Pin is not hidden!

I have parental controls configured on my Amazon videos so that you are required to enter my Amazon Instant Video PIN before you can watch shows rated Teen or Mature. When you go to watch one of these restricted shows in the Amazon Instant Video App you're prompted to enter your Amazon Instant Video PIN.



As you enter your pin the digits you enter aren't shown in the big "digit entry" fields. Instead only dots are entered. This done to mask your pin so that anyone who is watching your TV won't see your pin. So far, so good.



The problem is that for each digit you enter the on screen numeric keypad highlights each digit as you enter it, effectively making the dot masking worthless. I.e. they hide your pin in the upper part of the screen while at the same time showing your pin in the bottom part of the screen!



I have a Roamio basic, but I assume this feature applies to all Roamios.

Show will not go away from my shows list

I have Wicked Tuna setup as a OnePass and there are no shows recorded. I have tried to delete the folder and the OnePass and this will not go away.



Anyone else having this issue? Notice the 12/31 date...

Don't require android app to login on home hetwork

If I am on my home network, surely the android app could just ask the local TiVo if it has a valid active account and avoid going through the time consuming login to the TiVo servers, which lately appear to be run on an old 486 with a dial-up connection :-(.

New Minis, RF Remote Mode Not Working

I recently purchased and set up three of the new version Minis; two came directly from TiVo (already activated on my account) and the third came from Amazon (not activated). I can't get the remotes to work in RF mode for the two Minis that came directly from TiVo. All three Mini remotes will work in IR mode with all three Minis, and all three remotes will work in RF mode with the Mini that was purchased from Amazon, but none of the remotes will work in RF mode with the two Minis that were purchased directly from TiVo.



Has anyone else had an issue like this? Any suggestions other than return the Minis to TiVo and hope for better luck with the replacements?

Why doesn't TiVo pad suggestions?

I recently started letting my Tivo record suggestions. I was watching a BBT episode and it cut off just after the last segment started. I checked and it recorded a 30 minute slot for the show. Looking at other suggestions, they were all for exactly the time slot of the programs in the guide.



This may work for most movies, but as we all know, not necessarily for sitcoms.



Why don't the default recording options also cover suggestions?

Browse Upcoming Movies

I'd like a list of all upcoming movies to browse through for recording or rating.



On an older S2 TiVo I would abuse the search functionality by selecting the Movie category, entering a search of '0' and then browse through the entire list of upcoming movies.



On a new Roamio I haven't found a useful alternative. Certainly there is the Browse menu that lists movies, but there are many different categories that have be viewed one at a time and each usually only lists a few movies. Search has changed so I can't use it for browsing either.

android login always times out on first attempt?

I got the new app, I used it several times with no problems, but then it decided to start timing out with a "network problem" every single time I try to login. When it finally comes back and tells me to retry, pressing the signon button almost always works fairly quickly on the retry.



Is anyone else seeing this?



I guess I'll try reinstalling it from scratch one of these days, but I have no idea why it would suddenly develop this problem unless there is something wrong with the servers at the other end.

Roamio Plus not recording Suggestions after HD upgrade

Last week, I replaced the 1TB WD AV-GP in my Roamio Plus with a 3TB version of the same.. Prior to the upgrade, I backed up my OnePasses with kmttg..



For the upgrade, I removed the old drive, plugged in the 3TB and just let the Roamio Plus do its thing.. Re-paired CableCard, restored my OnePasses with kmttg, re-entered my settings and preferences manually. I then went about restoring my thumbs settings in a very basic way -- I took pictures of my thumbs screens prior to the upgrade, and then manually set them again by searching for those shows after the upgrade.



Its been a week since the upgrade, and so far the Tivo has not recorded any Suggestions. It is also not showing thumb-based content at the top when viewing the menu (rather generic shows are listed up there).



I've tried two things so far:

1) Just to be sure the thumbs weren't corrupted, I went to Restart/Reset, and chose to clear Thumbs

2) I also turned Tivo Suggestions OFF, performed a reboot, turned them back ON, and rebooted again.



Neither of these has led to Suggestions recording. Anybody know what else I can try?

Customizable TiVo "Sports Center"

With all the talk about difficulties in finding and scheduling sports programs with OnePass I have started to think maybe TiVo is missing a huge opportunity to cater to that HUGE market.



They should develop a "Sports Center", similar to their collections that would allow users to select a sport, select a team, see the schedule (more than just 2 week guide data) and record the "collection".



From this portal they could even provide team stats / player info especially via second screen iOS / android TiVo app (although this probably exceeds tivo's design strategy)



Do this right and TiVo could see some serious press as wall as bringing huge customer value.



Note: I don't watch sports very often, but even I see the value in catering to this rabid market!

I'm moving on...It's kind of funny to ask for a feature built into several apps on our phones and tablets. But do any of the dvr's out there have a webcast scheduler or podcast scheduler? Do any allow you to watch live broadcasts and record live broadcasts?

Stream Overheating

Did a search but did not find anything on the Stream unit overheating. Has anyone had problems with the unit overheating? I moved it to different locations and rebooted but each time in about 3 or 4 minutes would received the error unit has overheated.

This Old House

i love this show, but it is always the biggest PITA trying to record it, or watch it online. On my local PBS channel TOH was always getting moved around on Saturday mornings and it almost always gets bumped during PBS membership drives for those Suzi Orman or some "Doctor" pitching the secret to long life. Then when I had a DVR, they never seemed to differentiate between old and new episodes.



I recently ditched satellite so I found that the PBS Roku App had the episodes, but they haven't posted a new episode in about a month. Is it still on?

Grimm "Double Date" 3/27/2015

Did anyone else's episode of Grimm contain an audio play by play in a woman's voice? It was like closed captioning but only described character descriptions and action, not dialogue. I assume it was for the vision impaired. I thought I had accidentally chosen some obscure option on the tv or tivo but this episode of Grimm was the only show this happened on.

Apparent Problem with OnePass and Recording Sports

With the baseball season coming up, and with "OnePass" being new since the last season ended, I am trying to set up a OnePass for some MLB games. Here's what I would really welcome some help with.



My team broadcasts its games on two different channels. And I would like games that my team plays in to occupy the #1 slot on my list of OnePass priorities.



Unlike Season Pass, OnePass seems to offer me two choices, neither of which really fits.



Choice One is to record ALL MLB games on every channel. I don't want to do that because I'm not interested in games where my team isn't playing, and (since I am prioritizing the recording) I don't want games played by other teams "bumping" other programming I would like to record.



Choice Two is to select a OnePass for only one channel. But of course the problem there is that the team plays on two different channels.

History problem

When set to show all, my History list (under Manage Recordings & OnePass) is cluttered with WishList shows that haven't recorded because those particular WishLists are not set on auto-record. The History also shows OnePass shows that haven't recorded because they're on a different channel from the one specified in the OnePass.



Is there a way to prevent this? Or is this a bug?

Cableco branded TiVo?

I was in a thrift store (Goodwill Computerworks of Austin) and saw a TiVo Premiere, 750 GB for $40.



That's a pretty good price I think (as long as it's working). The only problem is that it was branded with "Suddenlink", a cable company in Austin. I mean really branded - the logo was embedded into the front fascia.



There were no stickers on the unit that said "PROPERTY OF CABLE COMPANY, FBI VANS WILL EMERGE IF STOLEN", etc, etc, but I decided to pass up on it anyway. It did have a barcode on the bottom that looked like it might be some kind of an asset tag.



My question is, are there Cableco's leasing these things or what?

I am really enjoying this show! :up:



Admittedly, this type of show is right up my alley. I love all things zombie, and don't hate a little bit of the teenybopper storylines - although it is an awful lot like Buffy. I could go for more differentiation between this and Buffy. I've already watched that show. Know what I mean? And, I kind of hate the intro - reminds of that horrible Scorpion one where they have to explain everything...



They're doing a great job of encompassing the little nuances from the original brain owner and it was fun to meet another zombie, who might not be as good of a person as he is trying to portray himself. That should bring a lot more interesting tie-ins as some of his victims are surely going to turn up in the morgue.

Roamio Compatible 6TB WD Drives

I've been reading a lot of posts in the forum and I see a lot of conflicting information about using 6TB drives with Roamio that looks like it might be outdated. Can I get a recent update on which of the following three drives are confirm to work (or not work) with a TiVo Roamio without any special formatting/set up:

• WD Red 6TB (Model WD60EFRX)


• WD Purple 6TB (Model WD60PURX)


• WD Green 6TB (Model WD60EZRX)

By confirmed working without any special set up, I mean you stick the drive directly into the TiVo Roamio without needing any formatting on a computer. Any one use any of these and it work without issue? Also, not really looking for a comparison of which one is best (since that is highly subjective), just want to know which ones, if any, that I stick into a Roamio will not work (or stop functioning within a short time) and which ones will be fine.

The Plus has 6 tuners! I've checked with the info button and there is generally no more than one or two recordings at the same time.



Is there a setting I am unaware of that would cause this?



Generally a Roamio Reset will fix the problem. I have had this happen two or three times since the beginning of the year. I don't recall it happening before that.

New Tivo Roamio causing eye strain

Wondering if anyone can solve this mystery.



My trusty Tivo HD was finally rebooting enough or me to upgrade to a Roamio. So I order it and a Mini for my second TV.



I plug the Roamio in, and after watching it, start getting eye strain headaches, the muscles around my eyes feel tired and sore. I had none of these symptoms using the Tivo HD. I am using the same television, the exact same video settings, same cable card, even the same HDMI cable, the only difference is the Tivo unit. It is much worse when streaming content, not as bad when watching live TV, and the Tivo menu's don't seem to be causing it to much, if at all. Given that a Tivo Mini handles everything through streaming, I haven't even unboxed it to test it out, I'm pretty sure it will trigger the same issue.



This is not unprecedented for me, I had previously tried a Roku stick on a TV that caused me zero problems, yet got the same eye strain issues when I watched anything on the Roku stick. Apparently the TV has the ability to generate an image that bothers me, but only certain hardware actually causes it to do so.



Does anyone know the difference in the video card output used in the Tivo HD vs the Roamio? I tried messing with video settings on the TV, no real difference, I couldn't find any video settings on the Roamio that I could use t change the display. This occasionally happened with some content on the HD, Amazon On Demand HD content would trigger me, but SD content would not. YouTube videos on the HD dod not trigger me, Youtube videos on the Roamio do. YouTube videos on the TV itself (It's a panasonic Smart TV so it has the exact same YouTube app that the Roamio has) do not trigger me, I even tried the same video on both devices, TV fine, Roamio triggered. I was also triggered watching videos transferred/streamed from pyTivo, even when ffmpeg was doing no transcoding at all.



It's mostly academic since I ordered a replacement drive from weaknees and am going to return the Roamio and Mini, but it is quite the (painful) mystery, so I thought I'd throw it out there.

Upgrading Roamio with WD60PURX

Long time TiVo user, last upgrade I did was back in the Series 3 days. From what I understand Roamio is a heck of a lot easier than the older models to update the hardrive. Three questions for the community:



1) Is the WD Purple 6TB (model WD60PURX) compatible with Tivo Roamio Plus/Pro models? Do I need a specific version/firmware? I remember for some TiVos and HDs, only certain firmware for certain models worked.



2) Is there any difference between Plus and Pro, besides the disk drive?



3) Is it really as easy as popping in a blank drive? Aka, there's no formatting/boot disks or anything? I just open the box, shove the drive in (delicately) and I'm done?

Login Grrrr!

I just knew this would happen the first time I ran the new android app and saw it wanted to login every time. Today (a little after noon as I type this), I tried to start the app and it just times out trying to login. Nothing like not being able to get to your shows simply because the TiVo server is having a bad day...

4oD coming to TiVo?

Video quality degradation: cable or TiVo?

Sorry if this is a dopey question but my knowledge of video processing and decoding is virtually non-existent. So:



I am a Cablevision (Optimum) customer in the NY area. I currently have a TiVo Premier, with which I have had no problems (except for the occasional v52 error but that's another thread) and a 2013 Panasonic plasma TV. When watching both live and recorded shows, I occasionally notice some flaws in the picture: blocks of blurred pixels, color banding (not sure how else to describe it: for example, the sun is on the screen and instead of a smooth transition of colors moving outward there are distinct bands of color).



I am considering moving from CV to FIOS because I keep hearing about the vastly superior picture quality, which would (I hope) eliminate or reduce the picture flaws. My question, though is: are these flaws likely being introduced by the TiVo or is it more likely that the TV picture is coming in with the flaws already there? Is the TiVo doing some kind of compression and decompression that is degrading the picture? It's my understanding that even when watching live TV the TiVo is writing to disk and then reading from the disk to pass it along to the TV so I'm not surprised that I see the flaws in both live and recorded video.



I recognize that I am probably using bad terminology here and that it is impossible to diagnose picture issues based on my description. But I'm hoping that someone here has seen the same behavior or understands enough about how TiVo processes the video signals to tell me if it is even possible that the TiVo is the sources of the degradation.

Using Stream this morning and the 30 second skip button suddenly disappeared, why?

I am using Tivo Stream with my Samsung Tab 4 10.1" running Android.



There must have been a new update because I was watching a show while on my treadmill and I noticed the 30 second skip button is gone.



Without that button, it's much harder to skip past the commercials. You have to guess now by pushing the timeline but's not accurate at all.



Is there any way to get that 30 sec button back?

Larger external hard drive for Premiere XL

Is there a larger Western Digital external hard drive that will work for the Premiere XL than the 1 TB My Book? I'm not keen to replace my failed one with the same model.

Roamio Basic - 2 MoCa's Stopped Working - No Lights

I have a TiVo Basic with 2 Actiontec ECB200's MoCa adapters, one at the cable modem end and one at the TiVo, going to a tp-link 8-port switch, which fed Tivo, TV, Blu-Ray, Xbox and AV Receiver. It all worked just fine (2 green lights on) for a year. But this part week, no green lights, and no network. At the TiVo end, I removed the MoCa from the loop, went wireless with each box and it's running again without the MoCa. How do I test the MoCa adapters? Did one or both just fail? I searched for failed adapters, but didn't find process/procedure. TIA, Curtis

Hulu needs activating every few weeks

Both my Romio and Mini loose the Hulu activatin every few weeks. This happens to both within a few hours of each other. If you reactivate them at about the same time they will deactivate at about the same time.



Has anyone else seen this?

Frustrated with tivo stream

I got a tivo stream a week ago and and it reboots it's self when I am watching shows. Sometimes I can can watch a show for 30 minutes before it reboots but it reboots most of the time at 5 to 10 minutes of a show



Tivo stream and tivo roamio are both on a weird network on the same router.



Is there a way to fix this problem? Should I call tivo about it

Should I expect the channel graphics instead of the call sign?

Some of Us Do Not Have HD

When I explore a movie that I want to watch and the Menu reads "Watch" VOD and I click it, well it takes me to VOD HD version of the movie while there is a SD version of the movie. Plus I would like to choose whether I want to watch a program is HD, not "if Possible" and I can not figure how to turn off the "If Possible" switch. The reason, TiVo does not show many HD programs and movies in widescreen version. I guess I am spoiled that my Comcast Motorola DVR does but doesn't have as many great features as TiVo. Anyway, I digress, I just wish I can access both SD and HD version from the programs/movies from the menu instead of have to go to Video Provider and search for the network to see if it is available. Some features should have been left alone. :mad:

My tivo.com account uses a generic device avatar for my new Roamio

I'm new to Roamio but have been a TiVo user since 2001. When I ordered my Roamio Plus last week from TiVo, I noticed in my tivo.com profile that it was activated for my account the same day I placed my order. The strange thing was that the avatar tivo.com showed for my new Roamio in the website was a generic old TiVo box.



Now it's a week later and I'm all hooked up and loving my new Roamio features, but the Roamio avatar on tivo.com is still generic. The avatar for my 7 year-old TiVo HD is an actual image of that device.



I'm wondering if this is the norm for other folks with Roamios.

I doubt I am going to get a "fix" on this and I a certainly not owed one, but I an curious.



Long story short, I downgraded my cable last summer to the basic tier of the locals, TBS, and some garbage like the shopping channel. However, with the exception of the premiumms, the channels did not go away. A rare perk of the company not being used to TiVo users, I guess,



Flash forward to a couple months ago and our lovely cable company shut off our service on accident FOR THE THIRD TIME since we have lived in this apartment building. Clearly the connections are confusing as to what goes to which apartments and they do not care to fix it,



We have a friend that is a tech guy for them and he came over to hook us back up. Ever since then a couple of the channels we should not have been getting come up V52 - No Signal. Just two or three of them do this and they do it over both my Roamio and my Premiere, Curious, no?



I am not owed the channels and do not feel any entitlement towards the situation, but as a tinkerer I am curious to understand the nature of it. Why would my cable being unhooked and then rehooked up suddenly cause the TiVo to report no signal on say Spike TV? I should be seeing V58, but the rest of the channels on the tier come in fine and on these couple I see V52,



Anyone?

WD10000F032 on Roamio?

Hi all, first time I ever had a question I couldn't already find an answer for on the board, so first time post. Thanks for running such a great community!



I just finally upgraded my Series 3 to a Roamio, and on my Series 3 I had a My DVR Expander WD10000F032. I'm trying to get it to work on the new Roamio, it detects, but when trying to set up it says there is an error and to try again or restart. Tried again, same thing, powered-off both devices, restarted the DVR Expander, waited, restarted the Roamio and went through a few ugly green screens until it finally landed back on Tivo Central. Tried again and had another fail.



Question is, is this model simply not compatible with a Roamio? Its seeming that way since its not in the compatibility list in the Tivo support site.



If someone has it working, any tips other than repeatedly trying the same things over and over?

The loss of video webcast functionality is now complete

Well I knew this day was coming, that my auto downloads through download manager would stop working. But I was told by technical support that my podcasts would be added to the HOTLIST. However, it now seems that Tivo has removed the functionality for webcast auto-downloads, including the webcasts in the search engine, and no way of easily adding the shows I watch to my Tivo. I don't understand why Tivo did this...I pay the same amount of money as everyone else. Tivo brags about their great search engine that finds Netflix, Amazon, OTA tv, etc., but no Web television.



Perhaps the audience is so small that this functionality does not matter to Tivo. Or perhaps I'm not familiar enough with the functionality of my Tivo and I can easily record my web shows from the Twit network. But if I'm right, for me it's a sad day. I suppose starting a thread for all people that DO CARE about this functionality is a waste of time? How many people would sign it? I just can't remember Tivo actually taking away functionality like this from their product.



Even if the shows do make it over to the HOTLIST, we will then start getting double commercials, one set from the web channel, and one from Tivo.



Finally, what are the best choices out there to replace this lost functionality? Right now I just auto-download to my tablet and cast my shows to my tv. If that is now the best we can hope for it is a sad day.:mad:

restore failed backup target not large enough to hold entire backup by itself

hi there. i have a friend's toshiba sd-h400 (circa 2004) tivo with a failed hard drive (i have an identical one).

I've done this before a number of times for other friends over the years; i have an older pc in garage all set to go, it boots up PTVupgrade LBA48 off of a CD (linux)...

i got my backup image mounted just fine (for simplicity lets say it's a backup of the original Maxtor 80G that came with the unit; it was never hacked or whatever)...



when i do with the new/target drive as hdd (secondary slave):

mfsrestore -s 127 -zpi /mnt/e/file.tiv /dev/hdd



all i get is an immediate error

restore failed backup target not large enough to hold entire backup by itself



Other attempts yield same error, e.g. i plugged in my origianl maxtor (that still works fine; it's been in a drawer for probably 10 years) and tried piping mfsback to mfsrestore and got same error.



I've tried two different target drives: a 160G and an 800G... i.e. both clearly larger than 80G



Help? How do i tell what mfs tools sees as the target drives size?

New Tivo Android App Today

All new redesigned interface. I haven't done any testing on it yet though.. But I *was* able to setup streaming while away from home. I don't believe that was possible before.



WHAT'S NEW

We've completely redesigned the App from the ground up.



New Features include OnePass and What to Watch for Android.

Comcast TBSHD channel not authorized. Pairing issue.

I just had this problem appear suddenly. TBSHD had been working fine on my Roamio Plus for a year, then suddenly (right before a NCAA basketball game no less), I got the not authorized error.



Comcast tech came out and replaced the cablecard, re-paired numerous times, etc still getting the same error. Called TiVo who had us go through a number of things regarding cablecard pairing, status, signal strength, SNR levels, etc. Still no TBSHD, all other channels fine. Comcast tech went through and measured all signals, etc and all was good.



After about 3 hours of debugging, the Comcast Tech got a call from his supervisor stating that just a few days earlier (about the same time I lost TBSHD), the Comcast engineers had made a "tweak" to TBSHD on the Comcast head end. They pushed updates to all of their Comcast set top boxes, so things were fine there, but they now realize there is an incompatibility with TiVos. Tech said that the supervisor would be working with TiVo to resolve the issue. We'll see, but at least we know what the problem is/was.



Update today 3/25/2015: TBSHD is now working again, so Comcast made some update on their head end I would guess.



BTW, it was extremely frustrating to hear the Comcast tech constantly berate TiVo...haven't seen anyone use a TiVo in years....blah blah blah. So glad the problem ended up being on Comcast's side of things after hours of hearing that it had to be TiVo since Comcast was fine.

Jeremy Clarkson will not have his contract renewed. It expires at the end of the month. :(



There is speculation that a replacement will be considered, but as Richard Hammond and James May have said they won't do the show without Jeremy, the whole future is in the balance and personally, I doubt it would succeed without him anyway.



The above link is to a live update feed from The Guardian newspaper in the UK. Other articles are listing names for a successor with Chris Evans emerging as favorite even though he denies being approached.



I have also seen a rumor that Netflix may be interested as well as other UK stations. Time will tell which is true.



I hope they'll make the material from the last three episodes of the show that are in the can available to watch in some form.

TV Show Display

I have been using pytivo for years but never really stored tv shows until now. What I find a little troubling is the display on tivo. When I go into the season folder, I see the episode name but not the episode number. I am using Lucansz fork and I need to know which of the container files to modify what is displayed on my tv. I have 3 of them: container_mob, container_xml and container_html. I already modified the container_html to change the way it is displayed on my phone.

The Flash S01E16 "Rogue Time" - OAD 24-Mar-2015

I am disappoint.....



First of all, ONE FLASH?!?!? I was expected to be double my pleasure, double my fun.



Secondly, the whole deal with Cold really sucks. Yes, I know it's supposed to setup the Gallery, but they couldn't come up with a better script?



The only good surprise is that the whole day is almost completely different from the previous episodes.



Lastly, I guess Dr. Wells is waiting for Flash to go faster, traveling in time for more than a day.

Moca through Ethernet switch question

I had a question for everyone. I'm about to become a first time home buyer. In my current apartment everything is on one floor and close so I just ran some long Ethernet cables to connect my Roamio basic and two TiVo mini's. Once we close on our house I don't have a desire to cut up my walls and or run Ethernet everywhere so I had a question about hooking up my Roamio and my two mini's. I know I need to put the one moca bridge before the modem, then plug it into my router, but in my entertainment unit where I'll put the other moca adapter can I plug that into a switch so the other devices, blu-ray, AppleTV etc., share that same part of the network? Can I also get additional moca adapters and keep the TiVo and mini's set to Ethernet instead of switching them to moca?

Duplicate My Shows folders... reboot corrects it?

This has happened several times now. It started happening before the update with the Rachel Maddow Show as a Season Pass. I thought the update fixed it, but I was wrong:



My Shows:



1) Folder: Long Island Medium [2] unwatched

2) Recording: The Good Wife (last week) unwatched



Then, record Madam Secretary and Good Wife from OnePass and I get:



1) Folder: Long Island Medium [2]

2) Folder: The Good Wife [2]

3) Folder: The Good Wife [2] (again!)



Two "Good Wife" folders created, both containing the same two recordings! Selecting anything in the second folder and then backing out leaves you in the first folder.



Reboot TiVo and I get:



1) Folder: Long Island Medium [2]

2) Folder: The Good Wife [2]

3) Recording: Madam Secretary



As it should have been to start with.



Can anyone shed some light on this? It appears that I can replicate it and it seems to have something to do with one show following another on the same channel.

Part of Last 30 minutes lost

TiVo is supposed to record the last 30 minutes on the tuner. However when a new program starts, the data from the previous show is lost. Does anyone else have this problem or know a solution?

We heard Feb. then March, now we are coming up on the end of March. Any rumors about the android app update? (I can guess the "April for sure!" rumor myself :-).

I want to relocate my tivo to different room. My question is, is tivo like a tv or computer? what I mean is that, if you unplug ur tv all the settings get reset. if you unplug computer all ur settings stay the same. I want to relocate my tivo but I'm afraid if I unplug it I'll lose all my settings/channels list/one pass?

Thinking about getting a Tivo for my mother, who lives in Ann Arbor Michigan.



She gets (and enjoys) stations from both US (Detroit, Lansing, Toledo) and Canada (CBC Windsor)



Anyone from that area can you confirm the Tivo guide will integrate both CBC and all the US channels in one guide?



How accurate does the OTA guide tend to be?

Remote Un-pair, how to ???

On a new tivo roamio basic, the included remote will not control the new roamio. I have other roamio's and the other remotes work with this new tivo, but not the remote that came with it.

I also noticed when I press any buttons on the new remote, the light is amber, not red.

When I use one of the "other" tivo remotes, they all flash red when buttons are pressed.



I tried the pairing thing with the new tivo but the included remote won't seem to pair. Or if it is pairing, it is not working.

Tried the change remote code to ZERO to see if that helped. Nope.

Tivo help guide says setting any remote code to ZERO will control any tivo.

Not the case here.



When I set the ""TV code"" on the "new" remote, the RED light came on as I entered the TV code.

I was thinking I got a remote for the older amber light tivos remotes, but this new remote does indeed have a RED light. So I don't think I got the wrong remote.

And I don't think the remote is necessarily bad either.



Must have something to do with the an amber light flashing as opposed to a red light flashing, when a any key is pressed on the new remote.

Where all the other remotes that operate this new tivo, they all flash red.



So I kinda assume maybe this is a pairing thing?

Where the new remote is not paired, or will not pair, and the the amber light indicates a non-paired remote?



Still, this new non-responding remote does have the ability to flash RED as when entering the TV function control code.



I was going to "unpair" all remotes from this new tivo and try pairing the new remote only.

But, I can't get into the pairing menu if the new remote is not working?

And if I use one of the other tivo remotes to get into the pairing menu, the tivo will just probably pair with that other remote?



How does the remote un-pair process work?

Un-pairing is mentioned in the tivo help guide, but thats it.

Why are the apps so terrible?

I am basing my comments on these same apps that I use on my Roku.



Apps on the Roamio are absolutely terrible!



Hulu Plus -- 100% garbage. Tivo should just remove it. I get constant video buffering when trying to watch anything. Even old SD shows like The Outer Limits buffers, buffers and buffers. Also when going to a Hulu Plus show from Tivo Central you are taken to Hulu Plus, then it loads the show, then you have to select if you want to play the video.. Seriously? Junk, garbage, needs to just be removed.



MLB.TV -- Junk! The video is fine and I like the GUI. I never get buffering but every time I exit the app after watching a game I get an error on every channel. The error is a banner message dead smack in the center of the screen --> the copyright holder no longer permits viewing of this portion of the program.



Netflix -- This is just about the only app on the Tivo that works well. No buffering and everything works fine. I do get booted out every so often when trying to go back to the episode list on TV shows but it's rare and I can live with that even though this never happens on my Roku.



Vudu -- Works OK, nothing to jump up and down over and nothing to praise. I've only used it once to rent a movie and it worked fine.



YouTube -- Oh my. The GUI is terrible but videos work fine with no buffering or other issues.



I know they won't remove these terrible apps as they are selling notes but dang, they are terrible!

How Broken Is the Tivo Website?

First, it says "Welcome, Roy!" in the top banner, but when I try to access the Season Pass Manager, it redirects me to the signin screen.



OK, I sign in *again* checking the "keep my email" and "keep me signed in for 45 days" buttons, and it redirects me to http://ift.tt/1G94qu5: "Uh oh! Looks like you're lost"



Find Shows->Season Pass Manager goes back to the sign in screen. Over and over again.

And King Simon is pretty forgettable. I thought for sure his bro was going to shoot him.



Not the best show, but I'm enjoying it for now. Will be fun to see where it goes.

OnePass issue with Netflix bug

If this appears in another thread, please move to proper place.

I use the OnePass for some Netflix TV series, and I have run into this situation a couple of times. Netflix just released the series BLOODLINE last Friday. I tried to set up a OnePass for it...it appeared in a search and listed Netflix, but said NOT YET AVAILABLE. I waited a day, and still was not available. I called TiVO - the CSR said it can take 24-48 hours for it to appear. It has now been three days. Now, the show BLOODLINE no longer appears in the search at all.

This is not good. Yes, I can get to it by going into the app, and it works just fine. However, if they're touting their OnePass as the thing to use for this sort of things and it doesn't work...well, you get the idea. It shouldn't take this long for a new series to appear in the TiVO search. Maybe someone from TiVO (is Margaret still reading...?) can answer this.

Should I Buy a Base Roamio?

I have had 3 Tivo HDs, 1 Premiere and now a Roamio Pro and 4 Minis. I have moved from a Fios location to one that only has AT&T Uverse servicing the area. (Comcast stops a street or two away, grrrr.)



My wife and I were looking at switching to no cable to see how it would work, but I am considering buying a base Roamio and upgrading it with a 3TB hard drive to get more storage space. I would keep the Pro around for now to see if we can talk Charter into running a few streets over (if enough neighbors express interest).



I have been less than impressed with my 48MB Uverse (max available) experience so far. I was doing some classwork and couldn't even keep an audio stream going on my Sonos speakers. That makes me wonder if I will ever be able to get decent download speeds for other media sources.



Should I spring for a base Roamio (about $150 at Amazon, including tax) with lifetime? I would even consider an OTA, but I will not pay monthly fees.



Any thoughts on the value of this approach or should I just live with what I have and even consider rolling off Tivo?

Tivo iOS app - Tech Questions

Does everyone else out there see a debug menu in their iOS tivo app? Seems really strange to have these options in a public facing application. Goto Settings --> all the way at the bottom.



I even see 911 options in regular dialogs. Just bizarre.

You know what. The Tivo remote just isn't well designed.

I know, a pretty provocative statement. But it's pretty simple. After 4 months of having ditched all of my FIOS gear for Tivo I still can't easily navigate the remote with 1 hand in the dark.



The only buttons I really use are:



Power, OK, this one I've got



Live TV, this one too.



Guide - Not easy to get in the dark, and you gave us 2 locations, one for Roamio, one for Mini. FAIL. Are you kidding me, 2 products designed to be used together and you located the buttons in different locations on both. Who let that one slip through.



Info Hit other buttons often trying to hit info



Numbers As hard as I might, typing in 618 results in success about 30% of the time. The FIOS remote never presented this problem. The layout just isn't good.



Oh, Peanut shaped remote? Same on both ends unless you feel around for what button is where so we end up swapping ends over and over until we get it right. Nope, sorry FAIL.



I know I'm being really picky here, but these are the industrial design elements that truly make a product "perfect". These are real issues, ones that prevent the product from being really really great. Time to step up. Just about everything has been invented at this point so perfecting the usability of the product is about all you have left. Well, that an the features I asked for in the suggestions forum.

I'll never stop asking. CID for Tivo...

4 months after installing Tivo I still miss not having CallerID on my TV screen like most of the other cable providers. It might not be the easiest thing to do and it might require a dongle and software update, but it IS a good feature regardless of what everyone says about ditching their land lines. I guess if Tivo is unwilling to consider it, than I have to ditch my land line as well. After all, I wouldn't want to be different. Or would I?

Poor use of network logo's in guide and channel bar

I've seen the question asked a lot of times. Are the logo's available in the guide and channel bar.



They really should be in the guide, on the left side like just about every other TV provider that uses a guide. Tivo really looks lacking without them. My gawd, XBMC even has them. C'mon Tivo. This is the low hanging fruit to having a better product.



Just as important is the channel bar (that's how I surf, and so do a LOT of other people). The logo is actually available on the channel bar BUT it's on the right hand side where it is actually of NO use what so ever. We read left to right in the US, so having it first thing on the right side (like just about every other TV box provider who uses a guide), IS the right place to put it and actually make it usable. It should be done. 4 months after installing my Tivo gear I'm still feeling the guide and channel bar are lacking because they don't have those things. Several other things that I lost going to Tivo I've learned to live without but these two things are missed each and every time I use Tivo. They should be there.

So you pause from your Mini in the Kitchen. Head up to the bedroom. Hit a menu button and select "resume from", then select the paused stream and off you go. Sounds pretty simple. After all, the Roamio has already recorded the stream and is continuing to record the live TV. It just has to redirect the live stream to the new mini and re designate the recorded version with the new mini's id and it's as if it was initiated from the 2nd mini all along.

Is there any way to pause a show in one room on a Mini or Romaio and then pick it up on another room?

All About Android missing from my Roamio

A show that I've had a season pass (and then a OnePass for) since forever is now missing from the search options. Or at least I can't find it.



Another show from the TWIT.TV network - This Week in Tech (also via OnePass) should have downloaded last night and didn't. At least it's still in the search list.



Anyone else seen this? Can anyone find All about Android in their search list?



Not being able to download the podcasts I want to is really driving me nuts. I bitched loudly about having to type in the RSS feed manually, but now I really miss it.

Play Store says Tivo app not compatible with the powerhouse Nexus 6, but works on the Nexus 5. What gives? Same OS, better phone. How can I get them to kick this into gear?

2.4.6 crapfest continues: Suggestions showing as regular recordings

Recordings in the suggestions folder have started showing a scheduled recording icon. This is a screenshot of the Android tablet app, but the TiVo interface is showing the same thing.

In general, can data from bad TiVo HDs be salvaged?

Anyway, we're apparently having an epidemic of failing TiVos in my house.



I'm in the middle of fixing one of our broken S2's, and hour our TiVo Premier is failing. So 3 of our 5 TiVos are broken.



The Premier is the most important, and primary TiVo my wife uses, and she's very worried about it.



Symptoms: it keeps restarting, and alternating between the "almost there" screen, and the TiVo animated video that plays after restarting. I'm guessing, but could be wrong, that this could be due to a bad hard drive.



So I'm considering running HD diagnostics, and if necessary, replace the HD. But if that's it, it has a giant heapload of shows that my wife has recorded on it. Is there a way, using the MFS utilities, to copy all that from the bad HD to a new good HD? Would it (hopefully) copy whatever it could, but skip over the bad sectors? Or would this even work?

can't kill demo mode on Roamio Plus

Hi,

I recently picked up a refurbished Roamio Plus. It upgraded to the latest firmware, but seems to have been in retail demo mode at some point. With each restart, it briefly starts the Tivo-through-the-decades video, but never completes -- about 5 or 10 seconds into the black-and-white portion of the startup, it immediately jumps to the demo mode "Introducing Roamio" video loop.



The odd thing is that I could complete the guided setup and it did download the guide and is recording programs according to the One Pass list, but there are still vestiges of demo mode. For instance, after 15 min. of inactivity on the remote control, it switches back to the Introducing Roamio video. I can return to what I was viewing with the Live TV button, but the inactivity timeout keeps triggering the demo video if I don't touch the remote for 15 min. I gather that on a normal power-on restart, the Roamio is supposed to put up an "Exit demo mode?" dialog, but this unit never does that -- just starts to play the startup video, only to jump immediately into demo mode. Does anyone know a different way to cancel demo mode for good? Now that I have over a week of recordings, it would be great if I could find some way to exit demo mode without having to wipe the hard drive of recorded shows.

20.4.6 bug playing still recording show

I've run into this problem multiple times now with this software update. From My Shows when I highlight a show that is still recording and choose play with remote, instead of starting from beginning as should be the case, play starts at end of recording. This is new behavior as ever since I can remember that's always how I start play and I didn't have this problem until recently. Anyone else see this?

New TiVo Mini, no video signal

So back oct/nov I bought two Minis when they made the switch to free lifetime but the prices were still $99. One of them I hooked up righ away. The other I intended to put in the guest room. I never got around to hooking it up until tonight. However even though I never hooked it up I activated it right after I got it just to be sure I got the free lifetime. Anyway I hook it up and I get nothing. No "welcome starting up screen", nothing. TV just says "no signal". I even tried an analog cable connected to the AV port and still nothing. The light on the front is on. The link lights on the Ethernet port are not. And when I tried to plug something in to the USB port it has no power. I tried swapping it in place if one of my other Minis and got nothing there either, so it doesn't seem to be the power supply.



Is it just dead? Is there anything I can do to fix it? I held on to it for so long before hooking it up I might just be screwed if it's dead. :(

Dropping channels - Comcast

Hello everyone.



I've been reading the board extensively the last few days and would like to run my scenario by you.



I have 2 x XL4 and a Premiere. Everything worked fine until we switched accounts to get a better deal. They told us we could keep our original equipment but that wasn't true.



Since getting all new cable cards (and modem), there has been issues with channels dropping on two of the boxes with v52 errors the last two months. Previously this wasn't a problem. Swapped cable cards at Comcast but still the same problem. Then switched the cable cards between TIVOs. The funny thing is the problem followed the cable card which really had Comcast puzzled since the cable card tested ok from their end.



After almost two months of troubleshooting, refresh signals, reboots, tightening connections, four tech visits and many calls to their engineering department, they tell me the v52 error is related to signal strength so I start examining the cables. Rerouted the wiring to is could removed an extra splitter and length of cable. Fixed one problem with dropped channels (XL4).



There are 2 x MOCAs on the network connecting the Premiere. When i bypass the MOCA and run the cable directly to the TIVO, I get all channels including HBO which has been the main problem along with a few channels in the 37-52 range. A temporary fix from TIVO was to use a splitter and hook one end to the MOCA and one to the TIVO. It works about 75% of the time but not a total fix.



The MOCA has an internal splitter with the same signal loss as a regular splitter correct?



The splitter on the outside is a 3 way with 2 x -7db (on for each TIVO)and a -3.5db ports (modem and voice). 1000 mhz / EMI -130db



I plan on changing the splitter with a 2000 mhz 3 way. There seems to be some debate on whether this will help. From what i've read, an unbalanced splitter is preferred. May also get a 4 way since i may add another TIVO soon, but will add a terminator to boost the signal strength until then. Are 4 way splitters balanced?



TIVO recommended to not put a signal amplifier on the system.



Are all POE filters the same, regardless if they come from Comcast, Amazon or TIVO?

Is there any signal loss when using a POE filter?

I had a POE filter on the outside, but one of the Comcast techs removed it earlier this year, saying it wasn't needed.



The cable runs from the outside box are quite long. Not sure if I can shorten the cable.
