New cable hook up Roamio

I've been a cord-cutter for years but I always keep an eye on cable TV packages and even call once a month or so to see what they are offering.

Today I hit the magic person I think. Right now I have internet only which is 150 down and 10 up and I pay $88 a month. I also subscribe to Sling TV which is another $20 so my total is about $108.

Today when I called they offered me their top digital package (like 200+ channels) and internet speed of 75 down and 10 up for $110 a month plus $3 for a cable card. The price is locked in for 12 month but there is no commitment, meaning I can cancel at anytime.

Yes I am getting slower speeds but 75 down is more than sufficient since I won't be streaming as much. Basically I'll be spending $5 more a month than what I pay now so I figured what the heck!

Now onto my Q. They said I need a cable card (obviously) for the Roamio but said I also need a Tuning Adapter, which they provide for free.

I've not really looked into the whole cable card and tuning adapter setup as I've been OTA only. I have browsed this forum and it looks like many have had issues with the tuning adapter.

Is this still the case? Should I plan on having issues?

The cable co. comes on Thursday to install so I have some reading to do in the meantime. I probably will also need to adjust all my OnePass's for the new channels I think.

Thanks in advance for any help with the cable card and tuning adapter tips, tricks and thoughts..
