Maintaining Multiple Buffers?

I have a new Roamio basic and three Minis, after being with DirecTV for a long time. With the old DirecTiVos, you could switch between channels and maintain a buffer on each, without recording either channel. DirecTV eventually implemented the same thing on their own DVRs and it is referred to as "Dual Live Buffers." I can't remember if that same phraseology was used with the DirecTiVos.

Anyway, I'm having trouble figuring out if this feature can be consistently used with the Roamio and the Minis. Sometimes when I switch between two channels, the buffer for each will not disappear with back-and-forth channel changes. Other times the buffer goes away with the channel change. Is there a remote button sequence that maintains the buffers? If so, does it work on both the Roamio and the Minis? Can I maintain buffers on all four of the Roamio's tuners, so that I can switch between four channels without losing buffered content?

The Roamio and Minis are great. It's nice to be back using a DVR that works the way it's supposed to work. The DirecTV DVRs were just really clunky compared to TiVo. The only thing I miss so far is the longer 90 minute buffers that DirecTV has, as compared to the 30 minute TiVo buffers.
