Do MSO supplied DVRs have issues with SDV too?

We see a lot of complaints around here about tuning adapters. Missed recordings, trouble tuning, etc.... It makes me wonder do MSO DVRs have the same issues? Is this just a problem with SDV or is it something specifically wrong with the TAs themselves? In theory the TAs use the exact same hardware as what's in an integrated box to communicate with the head end and procure an SDV channel, so I can't see why they would cause so many issues unless maybe SDV is just crap technology and all DVRs have this problem? Or maybe the hardware inside these TAs is inferior and simply doesn't work as well as the integrated hardware inside MSO supplied boxes?
