Hi all,
It's been a VERY long time since I've been here (according to the login screen, I've not been here since 2008). In any case, I am still running a Series 1 TiVo, since I have lifetime service on it, I paid about 20% ($149) of what it costs today, and it works fine for my uses. We just had a major storm here, and a power surge blew out my hard drive, and the Comcast Cisco DTA which I was running into it.
I bought a new hard drive from Weaknees (who I highly recommend), and swapped the DTA out at Comcast. Everything set up correctly on the DTA and on my Series 1. One little problem now exists. I cannot control the DTA Channels from my TiVo. I tried using the Comcast Digital Adapter setting in Guided Setup, and that no longer works. It seems that the Cisco adapter I had (which worked) has been replaced by one from Arris, and there is no update to the 5 digit IR codes on the TiVo itself. I also tried GI, Motorola, and some others but I can't control the channel changing.
I called TiVo support, and that was painful. The guy I talked to said that I needed to go to Comcast to get a 5 digit code, since Arris isn't on their list. Then he tried to suggest using Motorola or other codes, which was what I had also attempted. Finally, he told me to take the DTA back to Comcast and get an older Cisco one. Sorry, no can do, we Comcast customers take the equipment they give us, we have no control over that.
So now, I've got a new $100 drive in the Series 1 but can't control it, and TiVo won't help. Does anyone here have any ideas? Thanks in advance for your consideration.
