Roamio Plus model: Set up . . . my rental house configuration has 4 splitters from the point of entry around to the modem and another splitter in a box on the side of the house fed by the cable from the street and two legs one going to a tv in my kitchen and the other leg goes inside around the house thru the 4 splitters (one for each bedroom and the living room tv where the tivo is)) ending at the modem.
1. I use a TWC cable card and only pay for their basic 20 station starter channels for now.
When I added a splitter behind each tv in order to change inputs and watch the 40 analog and HD channels with the cable coming from the wall I started getting loss of internet connections I'm sure due to these splitters which brings the total count up to 9 splitters.
2. I spoke to tivo customer support and they are not found of any splitters in the lines although they know "some" are necessary. So I took all the ones off the tv's knowing each splitter is reducing the db's pushed thru this long cable run to 4 tv's.
3. * One issue I was having is she tested the specs on each tuner when all 6 were recording programs. Bottom line Im showing an average of 38-39 db's per tuner and she said I should be averaging more like 35 for a better picture.
4. TWC was out up on the pole 2 days ago as they said since Im at the end of the line I'm getting to high a signal. Before I get them back to pad that signal down more do the experts here feel I'm ok averaging 38-39 db's.
I'm worried if they drop it down more I'll see more "can't find internet" drops on my 3 mini's!
5. Lastly, for the mini tv's I hooked up A-B switches instead of splitters. It seems to work but when of course I switch it back to tivo from analog out of the wall cable I see that message and if I click back it disapears and connects.
I'm not doing any damage using an A-B switch am I?
I figured I cant use one on the main tivo because if I forget to flip the A-B switch back to tivo its not going to record upcoming shows since its disconnected from the service in that position.
Thoughts on the above???
Thx
