If I left my Tivo unplugged for a long time will my recorded things be erased?

I just unsubscribed because I don't watch TV any more and it costs me a lot of money but maybe one day I'll use my Tivo again. Planning on unplugging my tivo but would everything be the same when I plug it back like 1 to 5+ years later or will everything be erased?
