Hey Guys, Trying to figure a few things out.. Pro's and Con's..
We use to have 2 Series 3 units.. then one failed and we upgraded to a Premier.. then TiVo started Nixing all the Streaming stuff from the Series 3's.. anyway, we ended up upgrading to 2 Romio Pro's (One for the Wife and One for me) and switching to Comcast. All is good.
We have 2 TV's.. one in the living room, one in the bedroom. Both TiVo's are in the Living Room. The Living room is Feed via HDMI's from the TiVo's and I'm currently using the Composite+Stereo into a AV switch (learns remotes and uses the TiVo button as it's cue to know which TiVo to switch) that feeds a Wireless transmitter to send it to the Bedroom TV.
The issue with the current setup is, it's not HD. On shows that have lots of White background, the TV looses sync. (it flashes and stuff very annoying) and the IR blast doesn't always work.
So, I have a few options.
Option 1) Add a TiVo Mini to the Bedroom
Option 2) Run HDMI cables from the living room to the bedroom (it's only 25') and use HDMI splitters from the TiVo's. Using the TV's import to switch from Her TiVo and My TiVo.
Pro's to TiVo Mini - easy to install, just a single Ethernet, and it's on the same wall as my networking gear in the next room, so, it's a through the wall connection.
Con's to TiVo Mini - We can't watch the same show at the same time with me "driving" the remote. We do this at times.. She also likes to leave the TV on live TV (The ID channel) and it would switch off live TV after 4 hours.
Pro's to HDMI: Can watch the same show at the same time. No Lag that might be introduced from TiVo mini streaming stuff.. Can watch Live TV without going to TV Central after 4 hours. -- Could use the HDMI cable with the DVD/BlueRay --- IF we ever use it.. which is maybe once every other year.
Con's to HDMI: Unknown factor of introducing HDMI splitters to the mix. Still would have to use a IR blaster relay. Would probably use one that's not wireless that can piggy-back on one of the HDMI cables.
and for those who suggest moving the Wife's TiVo to the bedroom.. really don't want to do that.. would rather keep them both in the living room on the UPS.
So, which way should I go guys? Oh. I have a $250.00 Giftcard from Comcast, so, that's my budget! :)
