I have a lifetimed TiVo HD (TCD652120). It currently has the 120GB drive installed but I have a 2TB WD Green drive available. I'm planning to buy a Roamio and wondered if I'd be smart to just leave it as-is and save the 2TB for the Roamio, or if I'd be likely to get enough of a premium on the HD by upgrading it to 2TB to make it worthwhile to use it and get a replacement drive for the Roamio upgrade. Any thoughts?
Similarly, I have a friend with a lifetimed OLED (TCD648250B) that he wants to get rid of and upgrade to a Roamio. I have the same question on it, regarding the financial gain or loss he could expect by upgrading it, versus leaving it with the stock 250GB drive.
Lastly, is there a rule of thumb or any conventional wisdom regarding the resale interest level between the HDs and the OLEDs. In other words, is the OLED the preferred unit? Or vice versa? If so, if we only have a single AV drive to use for an upgrade between us, would it be better to use it in one unit over the other?
I've never sold a TiVo, so I'm not really familiar with the best way to maximize my return so I can 'reinvest' it into an upgrade. I was hoping to get some advice from people who know what's what. I'd appreciate any help from anyone.
