Should I get refurbished Roamio Basic boxes over new ones?

I am thinking of getting 2 Roamio Basic boxes. I am considering getting 2 new boxes with 3 year extended warranties or 2 refurbished boxes with 3 year extended warranties. I have read that TiVo normally sends customers refurbished boxes as replacements if the new ones get messed up, so if I buy new Roamio Basic boxes I may still end up with refurbished boxes in the future. I wonder how a refurbished Roamio Basic compares to a new one. Would it be scratched and have other issues, or is it like new? I will have these boxes in a very visible location, so I don't want them to look damaged.
